It’s simple. Someone who is careless with your heart doesn’t love you. The truth is that they don’t give a damn about you and your feelings. It’s only about them, and what they want and need. That kind of love sucks the life out of you because it’s not real love. But sometimes it’s so hard to recognize because it hides behind the idea that true love hurts. Toxic things don’t come from genuine love. Genuine love isn’t deceitful. It doesn’t break you down and make you question if you’re good enough. Instead, it’s full of compassion and selflessness. It’s honesty and commitment. It’s compromise and perseverance. It gives more than it takes and it gives without measure.
