Say You Love Me

“Opening up your soul to someone, letting them into your spirit, thoughts, fears, future, hopes, dreams… That is being naked.” ~ Rob Bell”

Familiar Strangers

I love when I smile at a stranger and they smile back at me. Sometimes they’ll even hold a conversation, and will laugh and speak as if they’ve known me all their life. It’s refreshing when I run into these types of people. They’re so open and down to earth, like they understand that we’re all connected in a way, even if we haven’t met each other until today. When I look at strangers, I understand that we all have some of the same stories, with the same ups and downs. We have all gained and lost so many things we never imagined we could replace. We’ve all looked ourselves up and down wondering what is our purpose in this world and if we even have one. As I smile at a stranger and they smile back, I know how they’ve also once found love in the most ordinary things. Like the way I find peace in their short-lived company. We are all very different but also alike in ways we may never know. Maybe, that quick smile and a few thoughtful words, even if it’s just hello, is all we need to remind us that we’re not completely on our own when we cannot see the light in this world.
