Say You Love Me

“Opening up your soul to someone, letting them into your spirit, thoughts, fears, future, hopes, dreams… That is being naked.” ~ Rob Bell”

Throw Away The Key

I think one of the worst parts of a relationship ending is how exposed you feel after being so vulnerable, especially for a person who has a hard time opening up. It takes a while to get close and build up enough trust to let anyone in and then finally you meet someone who makes you feel safe; makes you feel courageous enough to love deeply and be who you are without hesitation. But one day you wake up to find that it’s over…. And there’s no explanation or closure that could change the pain and loss you feel. Maybe even betrayal. Each time it gets harder to start over again. Your layers get a little thicker. Your light gets dimmer. Your smile is a little smaller. You get sick at the thought of loving someone in that way again. Not sure how you’ll get through it or if you ever will be the same. That’s what it’s like living with a broken heart. It’s miserable. It can break you and make you but deep down you know you’ll never be the same. You’ll struggle to believe that your heart is safe with anyone. It’s frightening to not know if you can ever give yourself away completely to anyone else.
